TEN SLEEP --- Ten Sleep native and former longtime resident Israel "Bub" Daugherty, 70, died on Sunday, March 15 in Pahrump, Nev., after a long fight against cancer.
He was born in Ten Sleep on May 24, 1927, a son of Israel "Mickey" and Thelma Rice Daugherty.  Mickey's father Paris Daugherty was one of the early settlers in the Ten Sleep area, and the first vehicle in the Ten Sleep area was owned by Paris.

Mr. Daugherty was a cowboy all his life, working on the family ranch near Ten Sleep.  He was a top hand with horses.  It was said he could get more out of a horse than anyone else.  His natural was with horses would classify him as a "horse whisperer" by today's standards.  He was known for having excellent horses with lots of spirit and endurance.
Like many cowboys, Mr. Daugherty had some wild and interesting times while growing up.  He once killed two dear with the same bullet, yet emptied his pistol on a skunk and the skunk got away.
He is survived by his wife; and by his two sons, Lester of Ten Sleep and Daniel of Mesquite, Texas.
Services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Ten Sleep Methodist Church.
