She was born on the AC Ranch, north of
The family continued to farm in the Parkman area until
1930 when they moved to Worland. Patricia attended Worland schools and
graduated from Washakie County High School in 1939.
She continued to live with the family until May 30,
1943 when she married Virgil T. Helms in Billings, Mont. She and her
husband lived on a ranch in the Upper Nowood country and in Ten Sleep for three
years, giving birth to her first daughter, Henriedda Lee in 1944.
In 1946, the family moved to Glenwood Springs,
Colo. In 19949, they moved back to Ten Sleep and then to Worland where
her second daughter, Susan Kay was born in 1951.
The family moved back to Ten Sleep where she made her
home for many years and always considered it "home" until her
death. She worked as the Ten Sleep Town Clerk from 1965 until 1979 and
was well known and liked by the local residents.
In 1978, her husband, Virgil passed away. She
retired from the town clerk position in 1979 and moved to Worland to be closer
to her sisters, Morna Coppack and Doris Fritz, and her Daughter, Susan Helms
Austin, all of whom resided in Worland.
She moved to Boise in 1992 to live with her daughter
Susan and family. She made her home with them until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband;
and both of her sisters and their husbands.
She is survived by two daughters, Henriedda Lee Helms
(Victor) DuBry of Hill City, S.D. and Susan Kay Helms (John) Austin of Boise; a
stepdaughter Eda Marie Helms (George) Van Gallen of Grand Junction, Colo.;
eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held during the second week in June
2001 when she will be buried alongside her husband, Virgil, in the family plot
in Ten Sleep.

TEN SLEEP -- A graveside memorial service and grave
dedication for Patricia Carter Helms will take place Tuesday, June 12 at 11
a.m. at the Ten Sleep Cemetery with Rev. Judith Bither of the Ten Sleep United
Methodist Church officiating.
Mrs. Helms, 79, died on April 4, 2001 at Boise,
Idaho. She had lived in Worland and Ten Sleep most of her life and been
the Ten Sleep Town Clerk for many years.
