WORLAND --- Arthur W. Cooper, 82, of Ten Sleep, died Thursday, October 7, 2004 at the
Arthur was born in Mitchell, Neb., on Aug. 30, 1922 a son of Silas Jay &
Alice "Fulton" Cooper.
He was raised and received his education in Mitchell. He moved to Worland
in 1935 where he worked on the Mileski Farm north of
Worland. He also worked on various farms and ranches in the Ten Sleep and
Worland area prior to joining the Army. Art served his country during
WWII in
He was married to Maxine Pearl on Sept. 4, 1944. Together, they farmed on
the Gooseberry and the Tie Down area. They moved to Ten Sleep in 1969
where they made their home until the time of his death. Art went into the
construction and equipment business. He also worked for Dale Weaver from
1972 until his retirement in 1984.
Maxine passed away in 1999. He was married to Billee
Foster, a longtime friend in May of 2001. Billee
passed away in December of 2003.
Art was a founding member of the Ten Sleep-Hyattville
Lions Club and the Ten Sleep Merchants Club. He remained active in these
organizations until the time of his death.
He loved spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, and his second wife, Billee, one son, Bill Cooper, and one daughter, Margaret
Cooper, two brothers and one sister.
He is survived by two sons, LeRoy Cooper of Riverton,
Ed (Becky) Cooper of Ten Sleep; two daughters, Patty
(Larry) Lamb of Thayne, and Theresa (Lyle) Bader of Worland; one sister,
Lucille Weathers of Lancaster, Calif.; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2004 at the United
Methodist Church in Ten Sleep with Pastor Steve Ferris officiating.
Burial will be in the Ten Sleep Cemetery following the services.
