BILLINGS, Mont. --- Former Ten Sleep resident Frank R. Compton, 94, died on Tuesday, March 26 at Western Manor Health Care Center in Billings, Mont.
     He was born  on April 11, 1901 in Versailles, Mo., a son of Bert and Jane Compton.  He was the eldest of their eight children.
     He moved by wagon with his parents to a homestead south of Casper in 1917.  He worked and rode for various ranches in the Casper area, including the B. B. Brooks and Tom Sun ranches.
     He married Elizabeth "Babe" Baugh in Thermopolis in 1927.
     The family lived in Ten Sleep until 1948, when they moved to Huntley and Ballantine, Mont.  They later moved to San Miguel, Calif., where they lived from 1960 to 1975, and retired to Worden, Mont., in 1992 to be near his son Conley and his family.
     Survivors include his son Conley of Worden; two grandsons, Scott of Bozeman, Mont., and Perry of Huntley; three great-granddaughters, Jenny, Kylene and Kelsey; two sisters, Eunice Alred of Ten Sleep and Margaret  Packer of Thermopolis; and a brother Everett, of Worland.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1968, his daughter Kathleen in 1933, and a sister.
     Cremation has taken place.
     The service is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at Smith West Funeral Chapel in Billings.  Graveside memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ten Sleep Cemetery.
     Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
