TEN SLEEP --- Longtime Ten Sleep resident Mark A. Beckley, 27, died in a gas line accident near Manderson on Friday, Nov. 14.

He was born on July 27, 1970 in Belle Fourche, S.D., a son of Pat and Alice Beckley.

At age 2 he moved with his family to Ten Sleep, where he grew up on the family ranch.

He was educated in Ten Sleep, and graduated from high school there in 1988. While in high school, Mr. Beckley participated in basketball and football. During his senior year he received the Defensive Player of the Year award.

After completing high school, he attended Wyoming Technical College in Laramie, where he graduated in 1991 with an associate's degree in auto mechanics.

He married Neysha Decker of Ten Sleep on June 20, 1993 at Meadowlark Lake in the Big Horn Mountains.

The couple lived in Ten Sleep for a short time, and in 1995 they moved to the family ranch south of Ten Sleep, where Mark spent many hours with his daughter Sawyer.

Mr. Beckley had worked as a pumper for KCS Mountain Resources since 1996.

He loved being in the mountains. He loved Corvettes, playing cards and video games, hunting with friends, ranching and the country life. He was active in 4-H and enjoyed racing horses.

He is survived by his wife, his daughter and his parents, all of Ten Sleep; his brother Ernie of Memphis, Tenn.; his sister Cindy Aune of Bozeman, Mont.; and four nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

The memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Ten Sleep Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Bishop Matt Davidson officiating.

A private family burial service will follow the memorial service.

Memorials may be made to the Sawyer Beckley Education Fund in care of Bryant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 524, Worland, 82401.

Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
