Rouse Wellington Anderson, 80, died in Ten
Sleep March 8, of an apparent heart attack.
He was born Nov. 17, 1892
in LaBelle,
Mo., the son of Albert and Hettie Anderson. He married Lulu (Zula)
Arnold June 4,
1925 in Ten Sleep.
Anderson
grew up in Ewing, Mo.,
and attended Kirksville
College before going to
work as a teacher for six years. After a brief visit in Wyoming while a
rifle instructor in the Army in World War I, he returned following his
discharge and went to work as a bookkeeper for Shaw-Quinn Construction on the
old Highway 16 through Ten Sleep Canyon, and for the Ten Sleep Mercantile
before entering into the ranching business with the purchase of the Woods and Fiscus ranches. He retired in 1958 to serve as Ten
Sleep postmaster, and retired from that last June.
He was a member of the Baptist Church and a charter member of Masonic
Lodge No. 46 of Ten Sleep. He served as a member of the school board for
16 years and was on the Soil Conservation Board.
Survivors include the
widow; three sons, Robert of Torrington and Gene and James of Ten Sleep; two
daughters, Mrs. Keith (Shirley) Thurman of Lander and Mrs. James (Sally) Martin
of Seward, Alaska;
and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be
Monday at 2 p.m. in the Ten Sleep Methodist Church with Rev. Billy Bowden
officiating. Burial will be at the Ten Sleep Cemetery with Masonic
graveside rites.
